Lollie Dunbar designs capsule apparel range for Wallis

Wallis, a premium high street women’s clothing brand, has launched a new collection by aspiring print designer Lollie Dunbar. The collection, which features a bespoke print created by the up-and-coming textile designer, first appeared online and in selected stores nationwide on 21 May 2012.

The seven-piece capsule collection features a range of garments for spring and summer. It includes three scarves, two dresses, wide-legged Palazzo trousers and a cropped kimono.

Growing up in a creative household, with an animator father and a dressmaker mother, Lollie Dunbar knew from a young age that she wanted to become a fashion designer.

However, it wasn’t until college that she first discovered her love of prints and patterns. From there, she went on to study textile design at the Winchester School of Art. In addition to this latest endeavour with Wallis, she has also collaborated with the World Land Trust and Liberty London after winning a scarf print design competition.

Lollie discussed her inspiration for the collection: "I wanted to create something that was suitable for the Wallis customer, for spring/summer 2012, but also something that would be a reflection of me as a designer.

"My main inspiration for the designs were prints seen on contemporary homeware designs and I felt these would translate beautifully into a scarf collection and the other designs flowed from there"

In addition to homeware designs, Lollie was also inspired by Egyptian Jewellery, Greek pottery and tribal tattoos. She visited the Pitt Rivers Museum in her hometown of Oxford and used its collection of world archaeology as her muse.

Lollie’s aesthetic also draws from the 1960s, as she admires the styles of Twiggy Lawson and Edie Sedgwick. She enjoys the strong yet feminine look of 60s-era shift dresses, jewellery and makeup.

In regard to the design process for her Wallis collection, Lollie said: "When I first met with the design team at Wallis to discuss the collaboration I was so excited that they very much wanted me to take my own direction.

Feeling USA offers S/S bridal lingerie range

Feeling USA is proud to present the Spring/Summer bridal lingerie collection. They have been selling lingerie online since 1996, and cater to brides worldwide. A bride wants to look sexy on her wedding night and during her honeymoon. Most brides spend a lot of time planning their weddings, and have little time left to shop for lingerie, sleepwear and beachwear to bring on the honeymoon.

That's where FeelingUSA can help; they carry a complete range of bra panty sets, sweet little baby dolls, flowing satin nightgowns, lace and charmeuse robes, and, of course, super sexy panties--crotchless, boy short and thong style. Different garments for every night. The colors range from innocent white, pastels to more intensive blues, reds and sultry black to seduce him.

The selection of course also includes bridal corsets, sizes ranges from a size 32 to a size 50. A corset will enhance the female curve and is a very popular item to be worn under a wedding dress. It pushes the bustline up and cinches the waist to provide an hour glass figure. If a bride decides to wear a strapless wedding dress, she will most likely need a corset to embellish her bustline. Bridal stockings and wedding garters.

June is the busiest month for weddings. Although in recent years August has become just as popular. The reason why so many couples tie the knot in June goes way back to ancient Roman traditions. The goddess Juno, was considered to look after women and marriage, and it was believed that she would be pleased with a June wedding and would bring good luck.

Wearing a veil also goes back to a Roman custom. This ancient tradition was supposed to hide a brides face to keep evil spirits away. The custom of wearing a wedding garter also goes way back to the early middle ages. Nowadays the groom removes the garter and throws it to the groomsmen. Most brides wear two garters, one as a keepsake and one for the single male guests.

Diesel fashion show has a blast at Life Ball in Vienna

Diesel was once again a protagonist of the most glamorous and sparkling fashion show ever: the Life Ball. The high-profile Austrian event – an established platform in the fight against AIDS - celebrated its 20th edition this year.

Diesel, who had co-hosted the show in 2006, was on stage once again alongside many of the fashion designers of the gala’s previous editions, bringing its unconventional and provoking attitude with incredible outfits that followed the inspirational motto of this year’s Life Ball, “Fight the Fire of Ignorance”.

Diesel replied in its own way to the question “how do we burn the prejudices?” The answer couldn’t be anything else but LOVE: an interpretation of love that digs into the brand’s DNA and heritage. In the famous series of “Diesel for Successful Living” advertising, the iconic David LaChapelle shot of two sailors kissing is still regarded as a powerful message of embracing diversity.

Diesel takes it one step further and the stage hosted a wedding where the brides and grooms were as unpredictable as much as they were glamorous. Celebrities and models such as Adam Senn, Tali Lennox (model daughter of Annie Lennox), and supermodels Olga Serova and Eva Riccobono were modeling during this incredible night. Renzo Rosso, president and founder of Diesel, declared: “I am glad to be here again to celebrate this important anniversary, and the fight against HIV, with a strong statement: a wedding where the prejudices are destroyed through love”.

The fantastic fashion show proposed five looks:

Two men: The first outfit, a tuxedo in a shiny, coated black denim with a sparkling harness and lateral studded stripes on trousers. The second outfit was a tailcoat, also in shiny, coated black denim, studs and rhinestones on reverse and trouser stripes. Buttoned jackets over nude skin, cummerbund in leather, and a bow tie and collar for a smart dress code…not forgetting the bouquet!
