Bare Necessities launches two new digital catalogs

Bare Necessities, the leading online destination for brand name bras and lingeries, launched two new catalogs without printing a single page. The editions are completely digital and designed specifically for a tablet shopping experience. The catalogs are available via the free Google Catalogs and Catalog Spree tablet apps for both iPad and Android, and can be viewed on BareNecessities.com as well.

The first new catalog features Bare Necessities' incredible new swimwear collection, featuring brands such as SPANX, Elomi, Freya, and Fantasie.

The second digital catalog highlights Bare Necessities' Spring bra and lingerie collection from Wacoal in a rich, sensual experience that is accentuated by being designed for an interactive, tablet environment.

"We are excited for the opportunity to use digital technologies to connect with consumers in new and engaging ways," said Bob Vitale, President of Wacoal America. "Through the digital catalog, Bare Necessities has made our bras and lingerie really come to life for women of all sizes."

Bare Necessities was one of the first to recognize that the Internet could be a powerful way to sell bras, because the company could offer the enormous array of brands and especially sizes that a physical store could not possibly keep in stock.

Now, the company is betting that the popularity and interactivity of tablets such as the iPad and Kindle Fire will change the way in which customers shop from catalogs.

Becca swimwear to the help of wounded soldiers

Swimwear designer Rebecca Virtue is pleased to announce her collaboration with Furnishing Hope to help provide much needed support to our Wounded Warriors and their families. Severely wounded warriors are immediately sent to military hospitals specializing in amputee and traumatic brain injuries.

The spouses and children of these warriors fly across the country to meet them, often times leaving all their possessions behind. Many of these family members arrive with only a suitcase. When their loved ones are released from the hospital to begin their rehabilitation process, these supportive family members seek housing nearby. Furnishing Hope provides the necessary furniture and supplies for these displaced military families to create a more comfortable environment in which they can recover from their injuries and start a new life.

Beth Phillips is the founder and executive director of Furnishing Hope. Having been an interior designer for more than thirty years, Beth saw the unnecessary disposal of usable furniture as an opportunity to do something for those in need.

For many years, Beth's daughter, Rebecca Virtue, has participated in Furnishing Hope's efforts. Rebecca saw firsthand how the creation of a nurturing home could impact the lives of military families in need. She saw an opportunity to partner the worlds of interior design and fashion design to make a difference.

Rebecca Virtue designed a collection of Red, White, and Blue swimwear and cover-ups in honor of these men and women who have given so much for our country. 15% of BECCA's net proceeds from the sales of this collection are being donated to Furnishing Hope to help further their efforts.

Stunning Sonali Bendre walks for Tytler’s My Journey

Celebrating a decade in the business of fashion, the very creative, Siddhartha Tytler presented various elements which are his distinct signature style statements over the years in his collection called “My Journey”.

From corsetry to sequins sheeting, appliqué work to crystal application, Siddhartha took this direction into the Summer/Resort 2012 mode at Lakmé Fashion Week. Fabrics made an impact on the ramp as the designer ensured that the selection of Lycra satin and linen along with chiffon, georgette and specially created printed lace for the show, were the highlights of the creations.

The colours remained true to style and season, with teal, berry, orange; aubergine and black interspersed with bits of mushroom, gold, copper and silver. Bringing in his trade mark silhouettes, Siddhartha had kaftans, deconstructed dresses, and gowns, sharply cut jackets, trousers, as well as the ‘fit n flare’ look of heavy corsetry.

Keeping the Summer/Resort theme intact, Siddhartha added some stylish swimwear and body suits to complete the look. Detailing played a major role with dori work, appliqués, colour blocking and negative sheeting adding the right highlights to the line.

Starting the show with dull tones of grey and black printed silks Siddhartha showed gleaming corsets with side peplums, jumpsuits in satin with drop shoulders, zippered mutton chop sleeves creation and a bat sleeve mini. The dolman sleeve sheath, the gold Lurex kaftan, flouncy flared mini with embroidered bodice and the will-power brocade sheath were ideal Red Carpet creations.

Vera Wang's take on 'clothing as sanctuary' is anything but safe at New York Fashion Week

Vera Wang, she of that phenomenal body in Harper's Bazaar last month, does have a day job that doesn't involve posing in swimwear and heels.
She is, of course, one of America's most loved fashion designers, and the volume of stars in attendance at her New York Fashion Week show were testament to that fact.

Renee Zellweger and Leighton Meester were in the front row, while actress Viola Davis and tennis star Maria Sharapova were seated in prime position next to U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Daring: Sheerer-than-sheer swathes of fabric allowed for plenty of sensual flashes of skin at Vera Wang

The future's orange: As well as greys taupes and teals, Ms Wang sent searing pops of neon down the runway

They were all there for the fashion, of course, which was based on the concept of 'clothing as sanctuary'.

Ms Wang's take on the theme was anything but safe, though. Sheerer-than-sheer swathes of fabric allowed for plenty of sensual flashes of skin, whether the shade was searing orange, teal blue or creamy champagne.
Her description in the show notes read: 'The body protectively enveloped in the soft armor of a fitted sheath, the sharp discipline of fencing-inspired jackets, the structured carapace of a coat.

Devoted fans: Leighton Meester (left) and Renee Zellweger sat on the designer's front row at the show today

Prime position: Actress Viola Davis and tennis star Maria Sharapova flanked Vogue editor Anna Wintour

'The female form revealed by smoky transparencies that allow a glimpse of skin and of delicate lingerie not meant to be hidden, but seen.'
Though the silhouettes were sleek and streamlined, they were also feminine, and Ms Wang played with proportions at the hips, adding peplums that added structure to the otherwise fluid garments.
The graphic prints on some of the fabrics also added to the idea of femininity, as the sharp lines curved and played around the models' bodies.

Back to the day job: Vera Wang, who posed in last month's Harper's Bazaar, takes her bow at the end

Leighton Meester, who fronts campaigns for one of the designer's fragrances, loves Vera Wang the woman as much as the label.
'She's a woman and she owns it,' she said. 'She's smart, quick and funny.'
She came to the show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to support 'Vera and all her wonderfulness.
'I am a big fan,' she added.

Ocean Paradise, a specialist swimwear retailer in Singapore, will be launching a new celebrity bikini brand from Southern California, USA. Vitamin A is a brand that exudes chic simplicity that is perfect for the urban lifestyle apparel in Asia and has a range of fits that would allow ladies of all body shapes to look fabulous.

Ocean Paradise will launch a new bikini brand from USA that has inspired a cult-like following of Hollywood A-listers and international It girls. The label is often referred to as the Little Black Dress of swimwear for its chic and functional styles.

The Vitamin A Gold collection will be available at the Paragon and Tanglin Mall branches from 10 November 2011.

hat California ease and effortless sex appeal are in Stevens’ DNA. Kate Upton for Beach Bunny to cause swimming sensation

Modeling swimwear comes second nature to Sports Illustrated and Beach Bunny supermodel Kate Upton so it was only a matter of time before she went behind the camera to create her own sexy designs. Kate Upton joins California based Beach Bunny to design suits that represent her fun and flirty personality.

The 1st release of the label, “Kate Upton for Beach Bunny” is scheduled to launch on Beach Bunny Swimwear website and retail stores early 2012, however fans can get a sneak peak of her designs at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim this July as bikini clad Kate struts down the runway at the designer’s show.

Dog on catwalk gets RSPCA hot under collar

Ksubi, then Tsubi, once had rats on their catwalk. And, yesterday, the label Terri Donna, presenting as part of the swim-wear and resort wear group show, sent a bikini-clad model clutching a shaved, dyed dog down the runway of Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Reminiscent of the film Legally Blonde, dog and carrier were perfectly coordinated, down to their matching hair bows.

The cute factor was an obvious hit with the audience with many at the show raising their cameras to get a photo. Outside the show, a leashed Pomeranian, also dyed, was sighted.

Animal welfare organisation RSPCA ACT was unimpressed with the use of a dog as an accessory.
Chief executive Michael Linke said he disagreed with the shaving and dyeing of the dog for aesthetic reasons.

''Manipulating the animal, shaving it and changing it for a fashion show is not normal,'' he said. ''To make aesthetic changes to suit humans disrespects the animal.''

While the shaving was unlikely to cause the animal any profound suffering, unless it were susceptible to the cold, it could end up bothered by skin irritation.

The designer, Terri Donna, could not be reached for comment.

The other shows in the group presentation were animal-free. Foxton Danger showed big, bold kaftans with huge tropical flower prints, ruffles to embellish and a kaleidoscope of vivid hues.

Karen Neilsen Collection offered digital prints of giant pairs of sunglasses and butterflies, scanty bikinis and body-baring tops.
