Vix Swimwear comes to Singapore and the Philippines

Ocean Paradise, a specialist swimwear store in Singapore, will be launching a collection of swimwear from the designer brand Vix on 01 May 2011. This collection will include those styles worn by Sports Illustrated Swim Issue models including Russian cover girl Irina Shayk and Chrissy Teigen.

A staple of American popular culture, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue has a total audience of more than 60 million adults. Cover models of this Swim Issue will join the sorority of fashion icons which include previous Swimsuit cover girls Heidi Klum, Cheryl Tiegs, Tyra Banks amongst others. This year, Asian locations such as Boracay in the Philippines and Singapore were also included in the shoot locations.


Irina Shayk was pictured in the Batik Ripple bikini with aqua bead detailing from Vix Cruise 2011. Beauty Chrissy Teigen who is of Thai parentage, is photographed in the Vix Tides Embroidered bikini, with bold blues and sequin embellishments. Professional surfer from Brasil, Bruna Schmitz, was shot in a Glamour Ripple bikini from the Vix Cruise 2010 collection.

Lingerie and Sportswear pavilions make debut at BIFF&BIL

In keeping with its refreshed look, the over two-decade mega fashion event in Thailand, the Bangkok International Fashion Fair and the Bangkok International Leather Fair, will be introducing two new pavilions dedicated solely to lingerie and sportswear within its ‘Apparels Fair’ this year.

With 36 exhibitors in the Sportswear Pavilion, buyers and fashion professionals from overseas will be able to get a preview of the Spring/Summer 2012 - 13 sportswear collections from leading local manufacturers such as Hi-Tech Apparel Co., Ltd., Hong Seng Knitting Co., Ltd., Liberty Garment Co., Ltd., Nan Yang Garment Co.., Ltd., Nice Group Holding Corp., Ltd., Oriental Garment Co., Ltd., Thong Thai Textile Co., Ltd. and VT Garment Co., Ltd.

Sportswear manufacturers in Thailand are now using some of the latest technology in both production and fabrics such as ‘ultra sonic’ and ‘welding‘ manufacturing techniques and functional fabrics that provide UV protection and good ventilation. As a result, they have gained international recognition and trust from several European league football teams from the UK, Italy and Spain as well as the J League of Japan to produce their official shorts and jerseys. Production of sportswear has great growth potential as it is categorized as a technical product, requiring specialized know-how.

Meanwhile, the Lingerie Pavilion will add a considerable dose of glamour and ‘sexiness’ to BIFF&BIL 2011. Consisting of 30 exhibitors, visitors to the Pavilion will have the opportunity to see not only licensed men’s and women’s products of international brands, but also inspiring lingerie and sleepwear designs of homegrown brands such as Annebra, BSC, Jintana, J Press, Kullastri, Kyra, Sabina and 3 Angels, to name but a few.

Annual prom model search at Cinderella's Closet

With the 2011 Prom Season coming to a close, Cinderella’s Closet is already planning for Prom 2012. The retail store in Lilburn, Georgia is preparing to host the annual model search at the end of the month.


On Saturday April 30, 2011, Cinderella’s Closet will hold an open call model casting from 2 to 7 PM. The casting, which typically draws over 100 young hopefuls, will focus on selecting approximately twenty girls that will have the opportunity to model in the 2012 Cinderella’s Closet Catalog. 


These girls will have a unique opportunity to model the latest prom dresses, build their portfolios, and work with industry leaders in the hair, make-up, and modeling fields. The ideal applicant for the model search is between the ages of 15-21, a minimum of 5’6”, and fits into the standard sample size. The casting is open to both experienced and first time models. Models are asked to bring their portfolio if available.


Cinderella’s Closet requests that all applicants bring in a full length and head shot photo of themselves to leave behind, a pair of comfortable heels to wear while trying out, and their Applicant Information and Release forms. Potential applicants can visit the store’s website, to download the necessary paperwork, including Applicant Information and a Photo Release & Liability Waiver. Applicants under the age of 18 must bring a parent or guardian. Also, be sure not to wear any scented or perfumed lotions, sprays, deodorants, etc, as they may damage the gowns.

Matthew Williamson for Impulse at Macy this spring

Macy's will debut "Matthew Williamson for Impulse Only at Macy's," the second designer in the retailer's new capsule series effort. Known for his luxury fashion house and distinctive bold print and color choices, Matthew's vision brings an ultra-feminine, bohemian 70s-style to this 30-piece collection that includes evening and daywear, featuring embellished dress, playsuits, blouse, leather jackets and printed scarves. The limited-time Matthew Williamson collection will be available in the Impulse departments at approximately 225 Macy's stores and on macys.com.

To welcome the arrival of Matthew's signature free-spirited boho flair and vivid coloration, Macy's will host a celebratory launch event at Macy's New York flagship Herald Square at 6 p.m. on April 13 in the Impulse department on 2. Matthew and his fashionable following will be joined by model Dree Hemingway (featured in Macy's advertising for the campaign) as they enjoy a special musical performance by Kelis. In addition, customers can shop the collection and sip cocktails to tunes played by DJ Harley Viera Newton.
