Kode Garment’s CEO joins ranks of leading executives

Filomena DiMatteo, Chief Executive Officer at Kode Garment Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in sales and marketing.

As the chief executive officer of Kode Garment Inc., Ms. DiMatteo has direct oversight of her company's business operations. Kode Garment Inc. was the first company in the greater Toronto area to acquire the latest technology in direct-to-garment printing, using the Brother GT-782 printer. The custom T-shirts manufactures can be used for both corporate and casual settings.

Ms. DiMatteo has been involved in her industry for the past 17 years. She is the recipient of a bachelor's degree in graphic design from Humber College and the winner of a Virtue Warrior Award in 2009. Ms. DiMatteo's determination has brought her great success, and she intends to expand her work in the coming years.

LFW Winter/Festive scores high with Fashion Fraternity




Lakme Fashion Week, India’s premier Fashion Event and Trade event, continues to leave its mark in its fourteenth season, enthralling audiences and buyers globally with its eminent fashion designer collections showcasing outstanding creativity. As a pioneer and leader in providing a powerful trade platform to designers, Lakmé Fashion Week announced new initiatives that propel designers and buyers to engage in business conversations and plan commerce. 


This season, as a groundbreaking initiative, IMG Reliance, HUL and the AEPC: Apparel Export Promotion Council India signed a letter of intent to form a partnership that will encourage fashion designers to explore scale and create links to mass production, state-of-art manufacturing facilities and technological support mechanisms. This landmark meet saw senior designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Wendell Rodricks, Narendra Kumar, Krsna Mehta along with over 60 designers come together to support this initiative for the Indian Fashion Industry. 

‘The Source’, the business hub at Lakmé Fashion Week, had over a 100 stalls for buyers to view designer collections and goods. Also this season, saw over 30 designers tying up with online retail partner, Fashion & You. Exhibiting designers had the opportunity to showcase their designs in a second preview show area located directly in ‘The Source’ area at Talent Box: Preview shows. In line with international fashion weeks, and for the first time in India and LFW history, this initiative was a huge success. Thus, Lakmé Fashion Week showed great benefit for both domestic and international buyers and provided them a single platform to purchase from all exhibiting designers.

Former spice girl Mel B adds X-Factor to Perth Fashion Festival


Perth Fashion Festival has confirmed that former Spice Girl and X-Factor judge, Mel B will be jetting into Perth to attend this year’s 13th annual Festival.

The new mum will be sure to spice things up in the front row with a host of events to attend including PFF’s exclusive launch party featuring one of Western Australia’s most coveted designers, Aurelio Costarella on 21 September.

Perth Fashion Festival Director, Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said PFF is thrilled that Mel B will be attending this year’s Festival and is looking forward to introducing her to the amazing creative talents on offer in WA.

“Mel has a very unique sense of style and she’s not afraid to express herself creatively. With so many WA designers taking to the runway at this year’s Festival we’re confident she’ll be inspired by the diversity of WA’s design talent,” Ms Harvey-Hanrahan said.

“During her time as a Spice Girl, Mel was a role model for millions of girls and her international appeal will help shine the spotlight on PFF and the talented array of designers featuring this year,” Ms Harvey-Hanrahan added.

More than 130 designers will participate in this year’s Festival. Fashion Paramount, PFF’s fashion mecca, will feature stand-alone runway shows by the cream of WA’s fashion talent including Story By Tang, Ae’lkemi and S2. National designers, Yeojin Bae and Magdalena Velevska will also be joining the WA talent at Paramount this year.

Launch of Karl Lagerfeld Capsule Collection at Macy’s



Macy's will unveil the new exclusive Karl Lagerfeld capsule collection in the retailer's Impulse department. The third capsule in the retailer's series of exclusive, designer collections, "Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Only at Macy's," features limited-edition women's apparel pieces reminiscent of the designer's signature style. "Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Only at Macy's" will be sold in 235 Macy's stores nationwide and on macys/impulse beginning Aug. 31.


"It's all about Macy's," said Karl Lagerfeld. "For the spread of their department store, their attitude, their client. It's a modern approach to what they do."


The Karl Lagerfeld capsule has a sophisticated aesthetic that weaves rich fabrics and chic silhouettes together to create a collection with a modern and versatile twist. The collection is a blend of refined dresses, airy tops, modern tweeds and his signature high-collared neck, priced on average from $50 to $170. A juxtaposition of color and graphic pattern create a vision of modern styling, while a tailored tuxedo dress with pin tucking exemplifies eternal elegance. The color palette ranges from soft to shocking pink and grey to noir. DLA Designs unveils new women’s fashion line



DLA Designs LLC has launched a new womens fashion line called FEMME MORTELLE, available at its online web site and in selected boutique stores around the country.


The line of clothing takes its name from the French slang for a beautiful woman, but with a dangerous edge. The initial line of product will include a variety of high-end, fitted tee shirts for women. DLA Designs LLC plans to roll out a greater selection of products in the coming months.


DLA Designs LLC is also the parent company of the successful streetwear brand White Collar Crime Clothing. White Collar Crime Clothing started as a crime and prison themed line of apparel in 2008 and is now sold in stores around the world.

Scott Henshall Diamond Cobweb Dress



Scott Henshall Diamond Cobweb Dress: British designer Scott Henshall designed the world’s most expensive dress. Worn by Samantha Mumba to the Spiderman 2 premiere, the black diamond cobweb dress was made using 3,000 diamonds and weighed approximately 483 carats. As expected then, the dress is worth an eye watering £5 million (approximately Rs. 36 crore).
